We all need a certain amount of stress in our lives for optimum functioning. It keeps us awake and the muscles of our brain active. However problems arise when there is too much of it
There are two important parts to stress management and feeling good with ourselves. One is the ability to deal actively with the external aspects of our lives, the other is to do with building up our own internal resources physically, mentally and spiritually so we can respond as well as possible to whatever life brings us.
Nature intends us to go into a trance or daydream state on a regular basis to keep us healthy. Psychologist Ernest Rossi coined the phrase "Ultradian Rhythms". He discovered that if we are pressure free we have a natural cycle whereby we have 90 minutes concentration and 20 minutes trance state. As modern life pressures us to remain in the conscious state all the time we miss out on the benefits and healing power of the trance state.
Stress is a well known contributor to ill health and some doctors believe that many illnesses occur because our busy lives prevent us from going into a trance.
I heard recently that some businesses are now providing a dedicated room for employees to "power nap" and productivity and morale have risen significantly.
